Audette Bruce for Tampa City Council, District 5

Meet the Candidate

Audette Bruce is a wife and mother of two who has been dedicated to serving others since high school, where she spent summers rebuilding homes for low-income families. Her passion for community work led her from national nonprofits and international development with the United Nations to planting roots in Tampa in 2012 with her family. They came to help start a local church and quickly became part of the close-knit Tampa community.

In 2020, Audette was inspired to get involved in local politics, joining State Representative Jackie Toledo’s campaign and later serving as a political aide to Representatives Toledo, Traci Koster, and Berny Jacques. In her time in the legislature, some of the legislation she worked on included combatting human trafficking, reducing costs of prescription drugs, protecting our children's online information and enforcing school speed zone laws.

Through it all, Audette remained active in REVIVE Church of Tampa, where she led communications and organized community events like Back-to-School drives, election outreach, and outdoor services—all focused on serving the people of Old West Tampa.

Now, she’s stepping up to represent Old West Tampa and all of District 5 on Tampa’s City Council—fighting to make sure every voice is heard, every neighborhood is seen, and no community is left behind.

Tampa needs real solutions and a proven problem solver.

Affordable Housing

& Smart Development

Tampa is full of neighborhoods with character and appeal worth preserving, but we need to balance that with smart development. As our city grows, we must invest in and improve our communities without pushing out longtime residents and neighbors who call them home.

Traffic and Road Safety

Our roads are overloaded and traffic is only set to increase over time. We need real solutions that re-envision our community's transit infrastructure as safe, scalable, and ready to take on the challenges of the coming decades.

Public Safety

The safety of every Tampa neighborhood is a non-negotiable. We cannot allow crime to take root in any part of our city. It’s time for bold, community-driven solutions that partner with local law enforcement to build real, lasting safety—block by block, neighbor by neighbor. Strong communities start with safe streets.
